It's All About My Min Pin

This is my son, Mini Me Preston. He is a Miniature Pinscher, commonly called a min pin. He is four years old and his birthday is March 21.

 Min Pins were bred in Germany to sniff out rats! Most think they are bred from Doberman Pinschers because they look like a small version of one, however they are really bred from the Dachshund, the Italian Greyhound, and the German Pinscher.

I originally purchased Mini for my husband as a fathers day present. My husband was thrilled. He had a son! My husband carried the little 6 week old child in his arms to the grocery store, the hardware store, and even carried mini in his robe pocket while lounging around at home. My husband ate chicken wings every night with his dinner and so did Mini. Mini still eats chicken wings to this day. I don't recommend giving any dog chicken wings, but Mini is not your average dog.

Although my husband tried desperately to bond with Mini, Mini somehow became my dog. Mini followed me around and begged for me constantly. I think he sensed my love for animals. I lived on a lake with my grandmother when I was a child and I took in every stray dog. I had accumulated about 20 of them and loved them all dearly. They were my best friends. Dogs became my love ever since and Mini knew that.

I went wrong somewhere with this child. I walk Mini constantly because he loves to walk, however, Mini thinks he is the pack leader. He drags me, and anyone else walking him, down the street. I keep telling Mini, No, mommy is the pack leader, but he ignores me and keeps pulling me further. Since he was bred to sniff out rats, he finds it necessary to sniff out bugs in the grass everywhere we go. Mini is extremely protective of me with strangers and will bite them if they walk up to me. His protectiveness is even worse if we are driving in the car. He will act as an attack dog if someone comes up to the window to talk with me and he will try to attack fast food workers when we order food from the drive thru. Because he is so cute and little, people think it is ok to just walk up and pet him but he has Little Dog Syndrome and will show you quickly that he is not a cute little puppy! Now don't get me wrong, Mini is lovable to people he knows, especially children, but he has to sniff you out first to make sure you wont hurt me. Once he knows you're ok with me, then he will want to jump on you to play, non stop.

Mini has slept with me since the day he was brought home. He still sleeps with me. I don't care where I am, Mini is there. He's been trying to jump in my lap the whole time I've been typing this hub. When I walk anywhere in the house, Mini is under my feet. When I go to the bathroom, Mini is there. Mini cannot be with out me and honestly, I cannot be without Mini. Mini and I went on a cross country trip with a Native American friend this summer. I thought Mini was a perfect angel, however, my friend said that Mini was a spoiled brat and doesn't speak to me anymore. Mini did get to see the space needle in Seattle and my boss was jealous. My boss loves Mini and most people do unless they aren't dog lovers. I know what Mini is saying and telling me with every sound he makes. My family loves him and he fits right in with all of us.Yes, a group of nuts. Mini is one too!
